Witnessing the transformation from concept to reality is one of the most rewarding aspects of Morlights’ work as lighting designers. For the Center for Innovation and the Arts at Spelman College - designed by Studio Gang - we developed a lighting approach that enhances the building’s architectural intent. While layered screens provide shade during the day, carefully integrated illumination allows the structure to glow like a lantern at night. This design creates an inviting atmosphere, seamlessly connecting the campus with the surrounding community and supporting the building’s mission of uniting STEM and the arts in a dynamic, collaborative space.
