What's better than lighting an exhibit about the history of dinosaurs?
When it's featured in the latest issue of Designing Lighting magazine!
We're thrilled to announce that Morlights has been featured in the October/November 2025 issue of Designing Lighting, spotlighting our lighting design in the "Cretaceous Crossroads" exhibit at the Museum of the Rockies, created in partnership with Bluewater Studio.
In Cretaceous Crossroads, visitors travel through a pivotal chapter of Montana’s ancient past, exploring dramatic landscapes, fossils, and immersive narrative zones. Lighting was an integral part of the storytelling process.
In collaboration with Bluewater, we strove to:
Illuminate fossils and specimens (like Daspletosaurus and Maiasaura) so structural form, texture, and detail read true under light
Layer ambient, accent, and dynamic lighting to frame narrative zones and support visitor flow, guiding attention and transitions
Create depth and contrast so murals, artifact cases, and environmental elements harmonize without competing
Balance spectacle and subtlety — allowing moments of quiet contemplation and moments of visual drama to coexist
It also reinforces our approach: working closely with design and curatorial partners, centering human experience, and blending technical rigor with narrative sensitivity.
If you're planning an exhibition, museum installation, or a place-based lighting project, we’d love to collaborate.
Let’s get illuminated, together.
